Lalola Restaurant in Valencia Spain - a ReviewLa Lola Top Trendy Dining, Bar & Flamenco Near Cathedral Old City
Valencia's trendiest restaurant bar offers the best of modern Spanish Fusion cooking and tradititonal cuisine, live Flamenco Thursday and Fridays and a dJ at weekends.
Finding great restaurants in Valencia is part of the joy for tourists visiting one of Spain's most exciting and beautiful cities. On a sultry evening couples wandering along a side street just off Plaza de la Reina and near the Cathedral in the old town searching for good food and fun will find Lalola, a lively Valencia restaurant owned by the charming entrepeneur Jesus Ortega Villanueva that is fast becoming one of the trendist eateries for modern Spanish fusion cuisine and entertainment. LaLola Restaurant Valencia Romantic and TrendyA giant hoarding of a woman in black, La Lola, welcomes tourists and Valencians to come and taste their new menu of modern Spanish cooking. In a zig zag of passages numerous tables with crisp white cloths and lit with elegant lanterns offer a promise of a romantic evening. Traditional Spanish Food and Modern Fusion MenuStarting with a delicate Ajo Blanco soup from Malaga; smooth and creamy with croutons and ham is pleasant but not unusual, until the spoon dips into a cheeky melon sorbet releasing a flavour of sweetness that entwines with the aromatic garlic, transforming it into one of LaLola's culinary inspirations. The arrival of El Pulpo a traditional dish of octopus with potatoes and pimento is found to be a trifle salty by some but others liked the robust flavour. Enjoyed by all are La Sopresas; morsels of shrimp encased in crispy parcels of filo pastry with a sweet mango dip. A subtle taste experience delicately balanced – a pleasing contrast to the savoury octopus. Lalola is a Lively & Entertaining Valencia RestaurantThere are plenty of amusing distractions in between course. On this occassion a stylishly dressed group of diners arrive in twos and threes in what appears to be an endless line of laughing wedding guests. Trouping into the portals of the restaurant they provide spontaneous and lively street theatre. Eat Spanish Food & Hangout at Lalola RestaurantA main course of seabass with artichokes, meditteranean vegetables and a light olive oil dressing is an excellent example of new Spanish cooking at its best. The fish is not overworked with other ingredients but allowed to take the main stage by the artichokes and vegetables which compliment well. So far so good! Traditional Spanish food with a little LaLola twist and innovative modern fusion dishes work harmoniously on a menu that offers diners the best of both worlds. Desserts lend themselves so well to modern cuisine; aesthetically pleasing and less stodgy than grandma's cooking. Lalola presents the final list of sweet offerings and the chosen pear soup with cream and chocolate is a divine concoction well complimented by a digestiv Casta Diva Cosecha Miel from Valencia a honeyed amber colour with orange reflections. Fun Flamenco and food Thursday and Fridays and a weekend DJ as in the food marries Spains past with the present.
